LMS.org’s Kenexa Learning Management System Review
Will Kenexa Learn (formerly Outstart) Live up to Your LMS Expectations?
Outstart began in 1999 as a Boston-based company that specialized in learning systems and business software. It was acquired by Kenexa in 2012. The business continued to expand until IBM bought Kenexa for an impressive $1.3 billion. The new organization was named Kenexa, an IBM Company and added 2,800 employees across 12 countries to the well-known IBM family. This evolution has taken Outstart from its relatively modest beginnings to become Kenexa Learn. IBM boasts Kenexa as a “full-featured, configurable, enterprise-grade social LMS”, but does it truly live up to the expectations of its users?
Kenexa LMS Features
Kenexa sounds appealing, but does it truly have what its users are looking for? That really depends on each user's goals and needs. Some have found the software to be ideal while others felt it was lacking in terms of features and functionality. What can you expect from Kenexa LMS?
Easy Search and Organization for Students
Kenexa’s learning management system presents a simple search function that is tremendously convenient. Students can easily browse courses to find what they need or want. The software also includes hassle-free enrollment and progress tracking that assists students through each step in the learning process. Students can find greater success through better organization with personal education plan tracking and monitoring of skill and competency.
Notification Automation for a Streamlined Experience
Automated notifications are built into Kenexa LMS so students, administrators and anyone else involved in the process can stay informed with less effort. The system allows for automatic notifications in a number of situations, including when the class roster changes, when approval requirements must be met and for information on assigned courses.
Impressive Collection of Support Videos
Kenexa LMS really goes out of its way to make sure users are informed. Users are given access to a library of helpful videos that explain various features and functions. The user can view customer stories, webinars, data reports, case studies and more. Informed users are much more likely to get their money’s worth out of the product, which is a very good thing!
Collaboration with All the Bells and Whistles
Whether they are in person or online, all classrooms require some degree of collaboration. Kenexa LMS provides a well-rounded selection of collaboration tools. Private messaging is provided so leaders can coach or mentor those they instruct. Social tagging features are also included so users can share ideas while all activity and content is tracked and stored in a safe, reliable online environment.
How User Friendly is Kenexa?
Kenexa offers a learning environment that’s relatively easy to master. Most users find that the software is well-organized so there is very little to stress over when giving it a try for the first time or two. Some users found that while Kenexa is effective, it doesn’t seem as fun or personable as other LMS solutions. If you want something more engaging, then this may not be your best bet. On the other hand, if you want a straightforward LMS for business purposes, this might be one of the more economical and practical options available.
Kenexa LMS Mobile Options
Unlike some of its competitors, Kenexa learning management system didn’t overlook mobile functionality. Many people own smartphones these days, and love to use them. Kenexa harnesses the convenience and power of the mobile platform by including a few features that allow for access to content and classroom organization tools via mobile device.
Is Kenexa a Worthwhile LMS Solution?
Kenexa LMS is an appealing solution for businesses and organizations. The software is better for the creation of training courses and manuals rather than improving modules. Administrators can customize the interface to include only the features that are needed along with rebranding that matches the organization or business. Kenexa offers a learning management system that’s easy to use and provides access to some mobile-ready features.
